The year of the rabbit! Are you a rabbit? Industrious, devoted, and responsible, rabbits are just great to be around!
I, Yuy, am of Chinese descent and was born in the year of the Rabbit. This year is what we call my 本命年 (ben ming nian), which is the year of one’s birth zodiac and it happens every 12 years.
Contrary to what you may suspect, the year of one’s birth zodiac is not one of prosperity and good fortune. In fact, we refer it to as the “year of fate” or “year of barriers”. Superstitious traditions dictate that one’s zodiac year will bring about misfortune in your life. Luckily, these misfortunes can avoided by wearing red, as red is a lucky color.
Well, with my red attire in place, I fully expect 2023 to be a good year for me and my family.
